YOUNG PEOPLE AND CHARITY WORK by Tolulope Oguntoyinbo

Mum just told me lady you are too young for what you are doing. What? I asked her in awe. I have found a passion, a cause to live for and you say the right time isn’t now. As a matter of fact, i wish i had this passion earlier because it is believed that Young people who give from an early age are more inclined to give over their lifetime.

·         Provide them with a clear and easy to understand information about the impact of charity work.
·         Communicate with them by making them see what they stand to gain such as the skills, recognition, and connection. e.t.c

·         Involve young beneficiaries as volunteers. They are living testimonies and would be able to carry out a more effective campaign for the organisation
·         Compensate them for their time and service. Not necessarily in cash, it could be materials or service in exchange(sometimes they might need you to also step in to a personal situation or connect them to getting something)
·         Give them great compliment for their looks, hard work, ideas and service. They will want to do more for you.
·         Give young people participation and influencing role.
·         Educate young people on charities through the school curriculum. This way we can instil in them the ethos of generosity
·         Award and recognition of young people will also do great magic for our charity work. Badges and certificates can be given.

You can get young people to volunteer through the following ways:

Catch them young is another popular phrase that explains more about this idea of young people and charity work. A young woman or men in their early teens, mostly in their early teens, love participating in spirited activities. Charity work is no exception if only the idea is made more appealing to them.
