WHY CHARITY? by Tolulope Oguntoyinbo

I am not responsible for their predicament you say? True you are not to blame for the misfortune of others.  However, take a minute to think over this issue. Put yourselves in their shoes and think like you. They also wish to live a life of abundance, comfort isn’t a taboo to them, and they want just enough to survive. The less- privileged we call them.... yes they have little or no privilege like you do.  They are the set of people who have not enough food to eat, the group that has no blanket to keep them warm in the winter, the community that doesn’t understand the process of electricity because they had never even seen a bulb. School? No, that’s farfetched because they just cant afford it.

They are the sick ones in the next village, they also are the war victims left with a bleak future. Charity is the answer these sets of people await. It’s the saviour in us. It’s giving a little part of us that means so much more to another person. When we share, give and donate, we save a life. Charity is a life-giving pipe through which the poor is enriched, the weak is strengthened, the hopeless is encouraged and the retarded grows.
Charity could be in the form of giving your time, money, properties, prayers, service and even yourself. What you call little is the much someone out there waits to have and their world is made. Your worn out shoes could equal to someone’s best, your daily wages could be someone’s yearly income, and your not so good car  could be the major breakthrough a whole family hopes for.
Charity simply is about saving other people’s life. By so doing, you keep their dream alive and give a chance of survival to the next generation.
